POLICE say they have uncovered a burglary ring operating in the Macedon Ranges.
Kyneton police have so far charged four people following raids on four properties last week.
Crime investigation unit officer-in-charge Detective Sergeant Shane Brundell said police searched two properties each in Romsey and Lancefield between Tuesday and Thursday.
Property searches are continuing.
Two 21-year-old men from Lancefield and a 20-year-old and a 42-year-old from Romsey were charged with a string of offences, including handling stolen goods, burglary and theft.
Detective Sergeant Brundell said there were a number of thefts and burglaries on rural properties in Romsey, Lancefield, Darraweit Guim and Monegeetta in recent months.
"A substantial amount of property has been recovered. We have a lot of work to do now, sorting through it, identifying who the owners are, with a view to returning that property to them."
Police say investigations will continue.
The offenders have been bailed to attend court at a later time.
