TAC Cup: Calder Cannons slip after draw

CALDER Cannons and Geelong Falcons couldn't be separated after a day-long struggle as the teams recorded the first draw of the TAC Cup season at Highgate Reserve.

Calder lost ground in the race for a finals double-chance with the result, 10.8 (68) each.

With two rounds remaining, Calder sits fifth (8-1-6) half a game behind top four teams Oakleigh Chargers in fourth and Dandenong Stingrays, third (both 9-6).

Xavier Allison with three goals and Joe Daniher with two were the Cannons' multiple goal-kickers, while best players were Allison, Rory Atkins, Jake Owen, Jonathan O'Rourke, Sean Hetherington and Andrew Gallucci.

Calder heads west to play ladder leader North Ballarat Rebels (12-3) on Sunday at Hanlon Park in Portland.
