Ranges road complaints kept on the right track

MACEDON Ranges Council is receiving regular complaints about roads that are not under its control but are managed by VicRoads.

To correct the confusion, the council has released on its website a list of the roads that are managed by the authority.

Council assets and operations director Dale Thornton says it's difficult for residents to know who to call when there are two authorities managing different sets of roads in the shire.

"Of course we still encourage residents to report road issues to us but would prefer that they check first that the road in question is actually council-managed."

VicRoads is responsible for the maintenance, upgrade, construction and planning of selected roads in Gisborne, Macedon, Woodend, Malmsbury, Kyneton, Lancefield, Monegeetta, Romsey and Riddells Creek.

To report any issues or hazards on these roads, residents should contact VicRoads on 131171 or vicroads.vic.gov.au Residents can report hazards on roads managed by the council by calling 54220333.
