A STATUE of an elephant painted by Gisborne Secondary College students will make its way to Melbourne Zoo.
Angelina, 13, and Kirra, 14, are pictured putting the finishing touches on the statue.
The school was one of 53 in Victoria to receive a 'bare statue' in March.
The painted versions will be on show at the zoo as part of its 150th birthday celebrations.
Art teacher Glenda Anstey-Sprigg said year 8 students studying sculpture worked on decorating the statue every lesson.
