Alleged child abduction attempt: parents urged to be wary

THE Sunbury Lions Junior Football Club has issued a warning to parents after an alleged attempted abduction of children at their ground yesterday afternoon.

Police are investigating the incident at a oval car park on Mitchells Lane, at Eric Boardman Reserve, at about 2.30pm.

Detectives were called to the ground after two children, both under 10, said two men in a car tried to abduct them. Police are yet to confirm all the details.

The Sunbury Lions Junior Football Club and the Riddell District Football League are urging parents attending the RDFL games to supervise their children.

‘‘We ask that you please make sure that you keep an eye on your children on training and especially on game days,’’ Lions junior president John Hansen said.

‘‘If your child is playing on the back oval or the playground, then please make sure that there is an older person watching them at all times.’’

Anyone with information about the incident can call Crime Stoppers, 1800 333 000.
