RDFL: Sunbury Kangaroos thrash Centrals

SUNBURY Kangaroos made the most of perfect conditions to record an easy win against Melton Centrals in the Riddell District Football League.

The Kangaroos kept Centrals to two goals for the game as they won by 139 points, 23.17 (155) to 2.4 (16).

Kangaroos co-coach Chris Meacham said it was a good win.

"It was perfect conditions out there, it's the best conditions we've played in all year," he said.

"Our on-ballers were brilliant and they were getting first use of the ball from the tap-outs.

"Our backline is the best in the competition [on points scored against] and now our attacking end has scored the most points for. It was a good all round performance."

He said the spread of goal scorers was a highlight for the side.

"It means there isn't as much pressure on me at full forward," he said.

"We had 12 goal scorers, with Lucas Dowson kicking five goals. He loves a goal and is the smallest player on the field but also the hardest."

Meacham kicked five goals and said like last year there was a gap between the top and bottom sides.

He said his side was still working out what its best line-up was.

"We still have a couple of guys to come back in. We've been trying to find the right match-ups, so been swapping players around," he said.

This week the Kangaroos will take on Riddell, who are in a similar position on the ladder.

"They've had players out who are coming back into the side. We don't take them lightly."
