FINALS time has arrived in Macedon Ranges Tennis Association with section one action due to begin at Gisborne Tennis Club on Saturday.
South Gisborne enters the finals series a clear leader on top of the ladder but some changes in personnel further down the table could provide some upsets and surprises in the three-week series.
South Gisborne (131.5 points) will take on Macedon Batman (112) in the qualifying final this weekend, while one of Kurunjang Rebels (third, 99.5 points) or West Melton (fourth, 63.5 points) will be eliminated in the other match.
The summer competition matches are all doubles contests with three men and three women a team, playing nine sets total for the day.
Association committee member and Macedon Batman player Robyn Darby has dropped herself from her section one team this weekend, leaving Kate Darby, Kristen Jones and Kerrie Taylor as the women's team.
"I would say Sandra Tirpkos is a very strong lady in the South Gisborne team and the whole team overall is strong," Darby said.
The Macedon Batman team to take on South Gisborne will be selected from club coach Paul Callow, Matt Dettmann, Jordan Ryan, Daniel Markworth and Will Deveraux.
West Melton is expected to put up a strong challenge to Kurunjang Rebels in spite of the 36-point difference on the ladder due to leading player Brett Carter playing enough matches to qualify for finals.
All matches are to be played on synthetic grass this weekend; all divisions start at 1.30pm.
Section two finals will be played at South Gisborne, with Sunbury playing Melton South and Gisborne facing South Gisborne.
Section three finals are at New Gisborne Tennis Club, with Gisborne taking on Romsey and Woodend facing Mt Carmel.
