GISBORNE teenager Alice Tucker has a major decision ahead of her: which American college should she attend?
Tucker is being heavily recruited to play in America's National Collegiate Athletic Association division 1 tennis system.
It is a lot for the 18-year-old, ranked seventh in Victoria for her age, to take in. "It is pretty exciting, but it still hasn't set in.
"It all seems unrealistic at the moment and I don't know what to think."
Tucker says that while most Australian tennis players take the circuit route, it is becoming increasingly popular to play in the college system.
"There isn't many big-name Australians who have followed this path.
"I know a few people over there now who are at the colleges."
Tucker is now making the hard decision of which college to attend.
"I've had eight offers, so it's the process of narrowing them all down.
"I'm looking at which ones will be good for my degree as well."
She has trained with Marc Sophoulis at the Melbourne International Tennis School for the past three years.
Sophoulis is quick to praise the rising star and is proud of her development in the game.
"Alice is an amazing player to coach, she always listens and gives her all with the aim of improving herself constantly," he said.
Despite going to America to play tennis, Tucker isn't sure what the future holds.
"I'll see how everything goes over there once I finish my degree.
"I want to stay involved in tennis, but whether it is playing on the WTA or something like coaching, I'm not sure."
