SUNBURY'S winning run may have been cut short but the Lions did put up a competitive showing against finals-bound Ballarat at the weekend in the Ballarat Football Netball League.

Sunbury lost 36-70 to the fifth-placed team, leaving the Lions eighth on the ladder with three wins and seven losses.

Gisborne's A-grade netballers remain in the mix for second spot on the ladder after a 29-goal win against South Bendigo at the weekend.

The second-last placed team was no match for the Bulldogs as Gisborne led by seven goals at quarter time and extended the lead at every change on the way to a 61-32 victory.

Gisborne has seven wins and four losses in fourth on the ladder, its 32 points behind third-placed Eaglehawk on percentage and second-placed Kangaroo Flat by two points.
