MACEDON will have to go the long way if it wants to play in the Riddell District Netball League grand final after an 11-goal defeat against Melton Centrals in the weekend's second semi-final.
The match was moved indoors at late notice, but the change of venue failed to rattle the minor premier, who advanced to the grand final 43-32 at the Cats' expense.
Bec Pereira's 28 goals and Mardi Button's 15 gave Melton Centrals the fire-power under the goal-ring as Macedon's avenues to goal were restricted.
Romsey will be waiting for the Cats in this weekend's preliminary final after a 16-goal win against Riddell in the first semi-final.
Riddell's league best-and-fairest Christine Harris scored 26 goals for the Bombers, but had no teammates make double figures as Romsey won 51-35.
Towering goaler Hope Hamilton slotted 32goals and Bronwyn Blair 19 as Romsey advanced to the second-last day of the season.
Romsey defeated Macedon 44-37 in round one this year and 53-29 in round 12.
The preliminary final will be played at Romsey Park starting at 12.30pm this Saturday.
