Sunbury clinches thriller

16 Feb, 2010 03:00 AM
SUNBURY'S new-year drought in the Royal Victorian Bowls Association premier division is over.

It has been five long rounds since Sunbury's win on December 19 and it has made its supporters wait until the last end of its clash with the Rosamond Rockets to taste a rare win.

Sunbury prevailed 99-98 in a thriller with the rinks of Michael Vesikko and Brent Petrie getting the visitors over the line.

The rink of player-coach Graeme Bridge had an off day with a 37-12 loss, nearly costing them the

victory.

Sunbury will host Essendon in the 18th and final round of the season on Saturday at 1pm.
