CALDER Cannons emphatically avenged an earlier defeat to Murray Bushrangers by handing out a 77-point thumping at Wangaratta on Sunday.
The Cannons occupy seventh place on the table heading into the final weekend of the home-and-away season after the 20.13(133) to 8.8 (56) win.
Assumption College's Frazer Dale kicked seven goals to lead the scoring, with Sunbury's Cameron Guthrie the best on ground.
The Cannons' home-and-away season ends with a trip to Box Hill City Oval on Sunday to take on the Eastern Ranges.

SUNBURY has at last been beaten in Ballarat Football League after a seven-point loss to Lake Wendouree at the weekend.
The Kangaroos' hold on ladder leadership will now require a win against Melton in the final round of the home-and-away season this weekend after the 9.9 (63) to 8.8(56) defeat.
Sunbury led by three points at the last change on Saturday but gave up four final-quarter goals and kicked only one.
Jordan Barham, Rodney Sharp and Brett Chambers were Sunbury's best players.

GISBORNE snared its fourth win of the season with a 25-point victory against Castlemaine in the penultimate round of the season.
Adam Pokrovsky, Scott Walsh and three-goal Ollie Messaoudi were best players as the Bulldogs won 18.7 (115) to 13.12 (90).
Arch-rival Kyneton dropped below Sunbury on the ladder from eighth to ninth after being hammered 25.15 (165) to 5.1(31) away at Eaglehawk.
Gisborne's season ends this weekend at home against Sandhurst, while Kyneton hosts Maryborough in the last round.
