General manager John Batty and operations manager Scott Lewidge are due to stand down from their roles and the RDFL has already started advertising for replacements.

AFL Victoria confirmed last week that its review of football in the RDFL region is independent of the hiring of new league management and will have no influence on the decision to replace Batty and Lewidge.

Batty is a former CEO of the Western Region Football League, while Lewidge moved back to Victoria to join the RDFL after a number of seasons with the Black Diamond FL in northern NSW.

Batty is retiring after two years as general manager, while Lewidge spent two seasons as operations manager.

"I turned 60 last year, looked at my birth certificate and decided I didn't want to work seven days a week any more," Batty said.

"I said to the board I was going into semi-retirement before Christmas and they asked me to have the holiday to rethink that. There's been no date set, but I have made [a resignation] offer which the board has accepted."

Batty said the AFL Victoria review hadn't crossed his mind in his decision to retire.

"People should never be scared of change and never afraid to implement policy that's going to take organisations to the next level," he said.

"The review of the RDFL is really not so much any personal thing about the Riddell league, it's about where we sit geographically.

"It's a unique league that probably should have been included in the review on country football."

Batty said the league's financial status was something he was proud of from his two years in charge.

"When I took on the league I had a challenge in front of me - to make sure the league consolidated, recovered financially and moved forward."

Lewidge resigned from his position to pursue travel opportunities in the United States.

Applications for both the general and operations manager positions will be advertised until February 15 with a handover to new staff expected late next month.
