 Lock defies conditions

Lock defies conditions

16 Feb, 2010 03:00 AM
CRICKET was a victim of the wild Melbourne storms that lashed the region last Thursday.

Play was scattered in the Gisborne and District Cricket Association's McIntyre Cup.

The conditions did not deter Romsey's star batsman, Jason Lock, who amassed 103 against lowly Woodend at the Gilbert Gordon Oval.

Despite the Lock knock, the Redbacks could muster only 179 to leave Woodend on top at stumps on day one.

Meanwhile, Sunbury United almost managed a full day's play away to Macedon at the Tony Clarke Recreation Reserve, posting a competitive 211 off 69.2 overs.

In B grade, the local derby between Sunbury United and Sunbury is evenly poised after the first day. United is 3-26 in response to Sunbury's first innings score of 168.
