KYNETON United remains last on the Castlemaine and District Cricket Association A grade ladder after a 150-run defeat by Muckleford at the weekend.
Muckleford was defending 8-266 from the previous weekend but couldn't extract Kyneton's batsmen in quick enough time to set up a tilt at outright victory.
Andrew Ferres made 43 not out to glue the Kyneton innings together, eating up 69 overs to make 116 all out.
Muckleford opted to bat again, making 3-55 off nine overs.
Kyneton's 18 points is eighth and last in A grade, 12 off the pace of seventh-placed Newstead.
In A reserve, Trentham fell a game further behind finals pace with defeat by Newstead.
Trentham's 48 points is still good enough for fifth, but is now 12 behind fourth-placed Barkers Creek on 60.
Newstead was defending 277 and bowled out Trentham for 205 in reply.
Slumping to 3-13 early, Trentham reached 4-125 before another burst of wickets claimed top scorer Paul Keane (62).
Elsewhere in the division, last-placed Malmsbury (138) lost to Barkers Creek (236 and 5-90).
