RUPERTSWOOD batsman Warren Hall says his side is disappointed with its overall performance in its loss to Bacchus Marsh in round 13 of the Gisborne and District Cricket Association McIntyre Cup.
Playing in front of its home supporters, Rupertswood got off to a poor start losing three wickets in only five overs.
Matters became even worse for the side before the drinks break when two more players went out to make it 5-30.
Adam Hodder was the only notable contributor with the bat hitting 20 as his side managed a total of just 85 for the day, which was easily surpassed by Bacchus Marsh who scored 88 for the loss of only one wicket.
"We didn't score enough when we were batting and when we were at 5-30 it was always going to be difficult to put up a decent score," Hall said after the
match.
"We weren't able to put any pressure on them when we were bowling and in the end it ended up being a very short day for us.
"We were all very disappointed and no one really stood out for us in the match."
The loss has dented Rupertswood's hopes of making the finals and it will have to beat Riddell in the final round of the season this week.
Hall conceded the results will have to "go our way" if it is to sneak into the top four.
"We're confident we can win our next match against Riddell and our record this season shows that we tend to get a win straight after we lose a match," Hall
said.
"We definitely have to win the match to have any chance of making the top four but we also need some of the sides above us to have a slip up at the weekend.
"It's important that we concentrate on our own match and make sure we do our bit."
Rupertswood's all-important match with Riddell will be played at Riddell Recreation Reserve over two days with the first day to start this Saturday at 1.30pm.
In the other GDCA matches Sunbury United (211) defeated Macedon (91) with Andrew Powell notching up 69 for the winning side.
Romsey (179) put on a masterful performance in its win over Woodend (94) with Jason Lock hitting a massive 103 en route to victory.
Gisborne Dragons (163) consolidated their place in the top four with a win over Riddell (87).
