SUNBURY Jets' hopes of making the Big V finals series received a major boost after the side recorded an impressive 20-point win over Keysborough on Sunday.
Coming off a narrow defeat to Altona in the previous round, the Jets looked the better side in the early exchanges and went on to dominate the first period, scoring 25 points compared with the opposition's nine.
The Jets continued to attack in the second period and went into the half-time break with a 19-point lead.
Jets star Alex Bogart-King dominated the remainder of the match and finished with 23 points as his team romped to a 79-56 victory.
Jets coach Ken Epperson was delighted with the result and said he was impressed with his team's defensive effort.
"We committed a few too many turnovers but we worked hard to nullify Keysborough's attacks," he said.
"It was a game we really needed to win and it will give us confidence for the rest of the season."
Epperson hailed the performance of Bogart-King and said his two guards Adam Chirico and Tristan Cousland were instrumental in the team's big win.
Next up, the Jets face an in-form Melbourne University side and Epperson is adamant his players are up for the challenge.
"The important thing is we still have a chance to make finals," he said.
"We want to play hard and and we want to be within striking distance in each period of the match."
