THE heavy weekend rain in Victoria has provided welcome respite from the heat and bushfire conditions.
David Allen, CFA manager community safety, outer metro Norwest Region 14, said: "We had between 40-55 millimetres across the area [in the Norwest Region 14] and it [rain] is certainly very welcome. However, the fire danger restrictions will commence from 1am, November 30.
"This rain gives us a little bit of respite, but we need to be mindful that summer is still upon us. A few hot days and benefit of these rains will quickly dry out. It certainly does not take the long term [fire danger] risk away."
In the region, the highest rainfall was in Toolern Vale (near Melton), which received a total of 123mm during last week, followed by Bullengarook (118mm) and Trentham (104mm).
