ALMOST $7000 was raised for charities at the Australia Day races in Kyneton last week.
The money will be split between the National Jockeys Trust and the Jane McGrath Foundation.
About 5200 people flocked to the Thursday race, which had been transferred to Kyneton from Hanging Rock because of its unsafe course.
Kyneton and Hanging Rock Racing Club manager Mark Graham said local trainers Mick and Mel Sell took five horses to the races for five wins, which had never been achieved in Kyneton before.
"We are currently trying to find if, or when, this feat was last achieved in Victoria.
"As the Sells are local trainers and are very well liked, a mass celebration broke out around the mounting yard after they won their fifth race, the $20,000 NMIT Hanging Rock Cup."
Six of the seven races were won by Macedon Ranges trainers, also including Jason Cannon. That feat was rarely achieved at Kyneton, Graham said.
He said the crowd was "exceptionally well behaved" with only two people evicted for intoxication.
