THE Woodend Toy Library is open for business as usual and looking for new members after moving into revamped premises at the Cobaw Community Health Service site.
Toy Library committee president Sandra Picken said Cobaw Community Health had offered to move the library into a bigger base late last year.
Established after the Ash Wednesday bushfires in 1983, the toy library has now moved out of its room in the Cobaw Community Health building into a separate shed with its own entrance to the Woodend Sustainability Garden.
"We've been able to nearly double our space, which means more room for new toys. We can now enjoy
the garden and borrowers can drive to the door to collect some of the larger toys," Ms Picken said.
"We have better access, more space, a nicer outlook and access to the garden."
She said a Macedon Ranges Council community funding scheme grant of $1500 enabled the toy library to buy new shelving, signage and display bags for its new home.
The entirely volunteer-run community resource is looking to expand its membership base.
"We are encouraging grandparents and carers to get involved and join," Ms Picken said, adding that the toy library was a great way to "try before you buy".
For $35 a year, members can borrow from the library's nearly 300-strong collection.
Concession memberships are also available for $20.
The Woodend Toy Library in Forrest Street is open 10-11am each Thursday and Saturday.
