FOR many year 7 students, like Dillon, 13, pictured helping student Liam with the locker system, the idea of starting a new school last week was a scary prospect because of new surroundings, new teachers and having to make new friends.
But Sunbury Downs Secondary College made life a little easier for them with its school introduction program.
Last Thursday, a day before the students from other classes returned to school, all year 7 students and their parents went to the school.
Year 7 co-ordinator Madeleine Carter said the one-on-one meetings with the home room teacher gave students and parents a chance to ask questions.
"This event just ensures that the students know we are a team, the parents and the school, especially the home room teacher."
