KYNETON is in full bloom. The town is preparing for its big annual event, the Daffodil and Arts Festival, which begins on Thursday.
Open gardens, ferret racing, spring flower shows, alpaca fiesta and music, arts, crafts and photography exhibitions are among the more than 80 events on offer over 10 days.
Secretary Margaret Dearricott says the festival, now in its 38th year, is growing every year.
"It has something really going for it. The past few years it has picked up in popularity and strength and people just want to be a part of it," she said.
"It's a great festival which people feel free to take part in and contribute to."
Gardens will be open on Thursday.
The antique fair and Kyneton's 54th Festival of One Act Plays begin on Friday and run throughout the weekend.
There will be ferret racing on Saturday and the spring
flower show and teddy bear picnic.
Sunday will feature the Paramoor Farm Fayre at Carlsruhe.
Next Tuesday, people can head to a day of thoroughbred racing at NMIT Kyneton Park, with gates opening at 11am.
During the festival there will be buskers on the streets of Kyneton and the region's galleries will feature art and photography exhibitions.
The Seekers' Keith Potger will team up with Marcie Jones for a performance at the Kyneton Town Hall on September 8.
A Festival of Flowers, the Kyneton Farmers' Market, Alpaca Fiesta, Craft Market, old time ball and grand parade and fair are part of the festivities.
Malmsbury couple Rob and Lee-anne Hamilton, this year's Kyneton Daffodil and Arts Festival king and queen, will act as ambassadors for the festival.
The prince and princesses of the festival are Ned Dowling and Shanaye Shield, of Our Lady of the Rosary, and Eilish Jukes and Callum Green, of Kyneton Primary School.
