Storms hit Macedon Ranges

12 Aug, 2010 05:21 PM
WILD winds are keeping SES volunteers busy with a number of trees falling across roads from Lancefield to Lauriston.

VICSES Woodend unit controller Dean Gladman said strong winds and heavy rains in the last 24 hours have uprooted trees across the Macedon Ranges.

The unit has responded to more than 25 calls in that time.

Trees were down on both roads leading out of Woodend, along Black Forest Drive and on the Woodend-Romsey Road, affecting power to the area.

The walkway at the Five Mile Creek bridge, also at Woodend has flooded.

A Bureau of Meteorology forecaster said wet conditions was expected to continue throughout the weekend.
