Store puts out call for more helpers

28 Jul, 2009 04:00 AM
A SHORTAGE of volunteers is limiting the shopping hours of the Sunbury Red Cross op shop.

Red Cross area supervisor Rushna Awan said having more volunteers would allow the O'Shannessy Street shop to extend its business hours and raise funds for people in need.

Ms Awan said the shop raised funds for Red Cross community projects by selling clothes and other items.

"The more funds we raise, the more we can help people look for work or put food on the table through our community projects.

"We are happy to extend our opening hours, but need at least 10 more volunteers to commit to four hours [extras] a week."

The shop is open from 9.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday and from 9.30am to 12.30pm on Saturdays. Details: 97447179.
