STAFF at Jolly Miller Bakery in Gisborne are happy to be sporting new moustaches in the name of men's health this month.
Manager Rimon Barbar, coffee barista Guy Neil-Barker and some of the bakery's other staff are taking part in Movember - the annual fund-raiser that raises awareness about men's health issues.
Known as Mo Bros, participating men start November clean-shaven and grow a moustache for the rest of the month.
Mr Barbar had heard about the fund-raiser and decided to get on board.
"I tried to con all the staff into getting involved. It's such a good cause and all the proceeds go towards men's health. There is nothing more important than men's health and it supports depression, so I thought, let's get in there and do our bit for the community."
He said Jolly Miller customers could support the cause by making a donation during their next visit.
"We're hoping to raise as much money as possible from our customers. We're doing our bit to spread the word and every little bit helps."
Growing a 'mo' for the first time in his life, Mr Barbar said the efforts of staff were attracting plenty of support.
"The first couple of weeks it was really itchy and I've contemplated shaving it off, but I thought no, we'll stick with it and get it done. Our customers are noticing, saying how good it looks and we might keep it going for a little longer."
