Pupils make a big song and dance

24 May, 2011 01:00 AM
GOONAWARRA Primary School pupils are to join thousands of young performers from across the state for a musical extravaganza.

Showtime: 2011 Victorian State Schools Spectacular is a professional song and dance performance featuring almost 2500 of the state's young singers, dancers and musicians.

Rehearsals are under way for the show in September.

The performance will feature a 100-piece orchestra, 1100-voice choir, 1100 dancers, 25 vocalists, 20 back-up singers, 15 circus performers and 130 specialised dancers from Victorian government schools.

Twenty-five children in grades 3 to 6 at Goonawarra will join the choir.

Performing arts teacher Helen Blogg said the pupils had music lessons last week and would start group rehearsals this week.
