SIX pupils from Sunbury Heights Primary School will put their filmmaking skills to the test.
The school will be part of a mini-film festival. The six grade 5 and 6 pupils will create a 2 1/2-minute film on sustainability, focusing on the theme 'think global, act local'.
After a few brainstorming sessions, budding filmmakers decided to focus on 'nude food' and encourage their audience to get rid of wrappers.
They will receive training in Broadmeadows along with pupils from five other schools and learn about filmmaking, including shots, scenes and sequences. They will also have classes in persuasive writing to ensure they get their message across.
Sunbury Heights teacher Emma Hyland, who is supervising the children, said they came up with a few ideas and decided on something the school was already focusing on.
The pupils are in control of the whole project, from writing and shooting to acting and editing the final product with music.
Ms Hyland
said each of the six boys chosen for the project had different qualities to contribute to the project.
"We decided on an all-boy group that gives them the opportunity to shine in a different light. They're all really bright and it makes them excel in a different way."
The crew is hoping to have the film finished by the end of this term.
It will be screened at the mini-film festival and entered into a competition with other schools.
