YOUNG CITIZEN OF THE YEAR AWARDS

*Sarah Gunn:

As an active member of the Macedon Ranges Basketball Association for the past 10 years, Sarah has demonstrated outstanding leadership as a player, coach and umpires co-ordinator.

She is also a player and coaches the under-16 representative team.

*Laura Baseggio:

A brave and positive young woman, Laura suffers from a rare disorder called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome.

The chronic disorder is characterised by severe pain, swelling and changes to the skin.

Laura still manages to attend school regularly and takes part in a range of school activities.

She recently organised an educational brief on CRPS for students and staff at her school, has co-ordinated fund-raising activities for research into the disorder and is a role model to the young people of the Macedon Ranges.

COMMUNITY ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS

*Jane Walduck and Kellie Duff:

The duo have made an extraordinary contribution to the community through their dedication towards establishing the Woodend Children's Park. They worked tirelessly to raise awareness of and funds for the park and encouraged the local community to take part in the project and comment on its design.

The end result is testament to Jane and Kellie's commitment and driving passion.

*Glenys Quaife:

A Local business owner and volunteer, Glenys has tirelessly contributed to the Gisborne community for many years.

She has volunteered on many locally-based committees and projects, including the Gisborne Festival, Gisborne Fountain Project, Gisborne Swimming/Aquatic Centre Project and St Brigid's Primary School.

She was on the original committee of the Gisborne and District Business Association.

COMMUNITY EVENT OF THE YEAR AWARD

*Woodend Children's Park opening:

The Woodend Children's Park is the result of many years of hard work by the Woodend Children's Park Inc.

The vision to create a playground that inspires creativity, adventure and enjoyment became a reality when more than 100 people attended the official opening of the park in October last year.
