A CENTRAL Victorian police officer charged with dangerous driving causing death has appeared in court for the first time.
Peta Carbonneau, 33, a senior constable at a northern metro police station, faces one count of dangerous driving causing death over a collision that killed a motorcyclist in Woodend last year.
She is also facing one count each of dangerous driving, failing to give way doing a U-turn and failing to keep left of dividing lines.
Carbonneau, of Woodend, appeared in Bendigo Magistrates Court on Wednesday for a committal mention.
The brief of evidence was not read out and she was not required to enter a plea. Carbonneau was charged in January after a long investigation by the major collision investigation unit.
A 31-year-old Woodend man died after being hit on Black Forest Drive in Woodend about 5.45am on April 20.
Police allege Carbonneau was doing a U-turn in foggy conditions when her car hit the motorcyclist.
She was off-duty at the time.
Carbonneau was put on restricted duties after being charged.
She is scheduled to return to court in October for a two-day committal hearing at which witnesses will be called.
