Josh sets goal for VFL umpiring

07 Sep, 2010 01:00 AM
Sunbury's Josh Butler has set himself a goal - to become a Victorian Football League umpire. The 21-year-old has won the Janet Evans best first year boundary umpire award in the Riddell District Football League. Josh said the honour was a motivation for him to pursue his umpiring career. "I really enjoyed the year, umpiring both seniors and juniors. My goal now is to make it to the VFL, however long it takes." The award is named in honour of Janet Evans, one of RDFL's first female boundary umpires. RDFL has 130 umpires working across the senior and junior competitions.
