AN INTERNATIONAL artist will perform at the Green concert at Hanging Rock in November.
The artist, whose name is yet to be announced by the concert organiser, Frontier Touring Company, is slated to be a big drawcard for the first music concert of this kind in the region.
The first of the laid-back, picnic-style music concerts is earmarked for November 20 and a series of concerts are planned for next year.
Macedon Ranges Council has approved a planning permit to allow Frontier access to Hanging Rock.
Council recreation and cultural development manager Rod Clough said the proposal had big benefits to Hanging Rock and its surrounds.
The region's food and wine will be on show to about 12,000 people which are expected to attend the event.
"There will be a lot of visitors come to the shire, too, so there will be spin-off from accommodation and shopping in town," Mr Clough said.
The proposal was referred to the Department of Sustainability and Environment, which requested no event should be held between April and October, which is the breeding season for the powerful owl.
The council will enter into a confidential licensing agreement with the music company.
Well-known music entrepreneur Michael Gudinski, of Frontier Touring, who lives in Mt Macedon, was unavailable for comment.
