 Grazing gets a tick

Grazing gets a tick

31 Mar, 2009 03:00 AM
MACEDON Ranges council will continue to encourage stock grazing on appropriate roads throughout the shire to address community concerns on the reduction of roadside vegetation.

A report investigating alternate methods of reducing roadside vegetation was presented at last week's council meeting.

The report states that residents cannot remove roadside vegetation as part of the State Government's native vegetation framework and planning provisions. The council cannot override these regulations.

Residents can remove non-native vegetation with a permit approved by the council and the Department of Sustainability and Environment for firewood collection or without approval if the vegetation is listed as a weed.
