THE Macedon Ranges Sustainability Group will hold its first Sustainable Living Festival in Woodend next year.
The not-for-profit organisationaims to help the Macedon Ranges community deal with the impact of climate change and encourages a more simple lifestyle.
The festival will be a two-day event at the Woodend Community Hub on February 6 and 7.
The festival theme is sustainability at all levels of life.
It will include weekend tours of sustainable new and retrofitted houses; bicycle maintenance and workshops and various stalls showcasing wind, solar water heating, electric cars, organic food and local produce.
There will also be workshops and stalls demonstrating massage, yoga, meditation and other mind and body healing measures.
Tours of the group's community permaculture garden in Woodend will include instructions on how to grow organic food using permaculture and organic principles, how to raise and care for chooks, and prune fruit trees.
The event will finish with a barbecue and live music at the Woodend Community Hub.
