RECORD numbers are expected at the Riddells Creek Bushfire and Emergency Services Expo next month.
The fourth annual expo will offer residents across CFA's region 14 area tips on being safe this bushfire season.
Experts from the Country Fire Authority, Macedon Ranges Council, Department of Sustainability and Environment, Department of Human Services, the Victorian Bushfire Reconstruction and Recovery Authority and other government agencies will be present.
Agencies represented include the State Emergency Service, Western Water, Victoria Police, Wildlife Victoria, Macedon Ranges Wildlife Network, Landcare, and St John Ambulance.
More than 25 different retailers will demonstrate and sell bushfire-related equipment.
Organiser and Riddells Creek lieutenant Alex Batty said the expo was the ideal forum to learn about bushfire preparation and survival.
"If people are still uncertain about what they need to do in the event of a bushfire, then the expo is the right place to ask questions and seek advice." Mr Batty said the CFA's key message was for residents to prepare and act now to survive.
"The events of February provide an example of what we might face here in the Macedon Ranges and how we need to take appropriate action as an agency and a community to be as prepared as possible. People cannot be complacent with the rain we have had. While it has been good, it's not going to necessarily reduce the risk."
The Riddells Creek Bushfire and Emergency Services Expo is on November 15 from 10am-4pm at Riddells Creek Primary School Oval, Main Road, Riddells Creek. Details: Alex Batty, 0439952306
