Festival toasts region's finest drops

31 Aug, 2010 12:00 AM
CROWDS flocked to the 23rd annual Sunbury Wine Region Festival to sample some of the region's finest produce.

The six-day show ended on Sunday.

Longview Creek vineyard owner and Sunbury District Grapegrowers Association member Bill Ashby said the weather was ideal and everyone had a good time.

"There were people who came for the first time and had a nice time and will come back.

"People were also interested in winemaking, how to grow grapes and the processes.

"They want to know a bit about our life because they find it interesting. It's also about the promotion of tourism in Sunbury and the Hume area, to some extent we rely on it."

Mr Ashby said the other winery owners were happy with how the festival ran and were looking forward to a bigger and better festival next year. While most people who attended were from the Sunbury area, he also spoke to people who had come from other parts of Victoria.
