SUNBURY businessman Adam Mizzi is literally putting on a brave face for the Movember cause.
"I'm copping a lot of slack from people. It [his moustache] looks disgusting. However, it's for a good cause," he said.
Mr Mizzi is growing his moustache to help spread awareness about men's health issues, including prostate cancer and depression.
Every year in Australia, according to figures from the Prostate Cancer Foundation, 3300 men die of prostate cancer, while figures from beyondblue indicate that depression affects one in eight men.
For Mr Mizzi, Movember is personal. "I recently lost a close friend... He was an amazing person, but none of us realised he was depressed.
"Two years ago I suffered from depression, too. I felt that telling them [people] my story will help raise awareness about men's depression."
Mr Mizzi is trying to raise $5000 by December 7. So far he has collected $580.
