OF course, it's not all about winning, and just being a part of it is a reward in itself, but even so, St Columba's College in Essendon is one school that has certainly earned bragging rights.
The school has an iron-like grip on the title of best performing school in Rock Eisteddfod history.
It has been crowned national champion an unprecedented five times, with its first victory dating back to 1990 and its most recent spoils in 2006 and 2008.
Last year, the school didn't take part.
It has taken part every second year and alternates each year with a combined musical with St Bernard's College.
Principal April Honeyman, in her sixth year at the school,
said it had been rocked by the axing of the arts spectacular as it had already been planning its production for this year's event.
"It's disappointing for the girls who would have auditioned to be in it for this year," Ms Honeyman said.
"It's become part of the tradition and the history of the school."
She said while the Rock Eisteddfod had been cancelled, organisers and the Government should look into other options.
"I suppose that given it has been going on for so many years, maybe it's time for that idea to morph itself into something else the schools can pick up."
