SUNBURY residents have been urged to put on their dancing shoes for this year's Dance for Cancer.
The fund-raiser for the Cancer Council includes games, cheese and wine tastings, a DJ and Irish dancers.
Tickets are $10 each.
Organisers say the event, to be held this Friday at the Sunbury Memorial Hall, will have a strong community focus.
Statistics released by the Cancer Council show half of all Australian men and a third of all women will be diagnosed with cancer before the age of 85.
The money from the fund-raiser will go towards research in the fight against the deadly disease.
Event co-ordinator Marianne Williams said she came up with the idea for raising funds with a dance after watching the success of Australia's Biggest Morning Tea.
She said she hoped residents battling cancer would benefit from the night.
"The night will be a lot of fun, in return for some small donations," Ms Williams said.
The dance begins at 7.30pm and finishes at midnight.
