CFA wants kids to join

07 Sep, 2010 12:00 AM
CHILDREN across the Macedon Ranges have been urged to join the CFA junior development program as it celebrates its 10th anniversary.

Gisborne, Riddells Creek, Trentham, Mt Macedon, Bullengarook, Darraweit Guim and Kyneton brigades, involved in the program, are seeking more 11 to 15-year-olds to become members.

Darraweit Guim program leader Danielle Craig, who has been helping run the program for two years, says

some children start in juniors and move into senior training, while others get involved because they want to do something in the community.

"It's a good way to build friendships, and get the kids involved in community, to give something back."

Acting youth programs manager Roz Long said the program provided safe, enjoyable and challenging activities for young people and strengthened the links between brigades and the community.
