Caroline gears up for bike challenge

28 Jun, 2011 12:00 AM
SUNBURY'S Caroline Gepp is getting ready for what she regards as her greatest challenge - her first Great Victorian Bike Ride.

Ms Gepp (pictured) decided to undertake the gruelling task after completing a similar ride in Western Australia in March.

"I just had such a great time over there [so] I decided to come back here and do the Victorian ride."

The 49-year-old took up cycling about 18 months ago. She has been training for more than 20 hours a week preparing for the ride.

"I've been riding my bike around the Macedon Ranges area and getting lots of hill practice. I'm really looking forward to it, it's a great atmosphere and a lot of fun."

The 590-kilometre ride starts in Swan Hill on November 26 and ends in Echuca on December 4.

To join the ride or for more information, visit www.greatvic.com.au or call 1800616600.
