Blayne rides for a cause

31 Aug, 2010 01:00 AM
KILLARA Primary School pupil Blayne Horwood has risen to a challenge.

The 12-year-old completed Ride 4 Kids on Sunday, a continuous motocross event held by charity organisation Challenge, to raise funds to help children with cancer. Blayne raised more than $405 - $205 more than his target.

He was helped by fellow pupils, who held a fund-raiser on Friday.

Blayne decided to join in this year's challenge because his family has been affected by cancer and he understood the need to help victims and their families cope with cancer.

Ride 4 Kids was held at Broadford and involved continuous riding sessions in an open practice format, rather than a race.

There were raffles, barbecues and prizes, with guest appearances by some of Australia's best pro riders.
