POLICE are urging Macedon Ranges residents to be vigilant and ensure their sheds are secured after a spate of burglaries in Romsey last week.
About $10,000 of tools and other household items have been stolen from sheds at five residential properties around Metcalfe Road sometime between 11pm on August 12 and 8am the following day.
Detective Senior Constable Marcus Uren said chainsaws and brushcutters were among the items stolen.
He called on residents to be vigilant and make the time to record identifiable features on valuable items.
"People need to be reminded that they need to record all identifiable features and document the serial numbers of valuables to keep in a safe place" he said.
"We need these sorts of things to assist with the recovery. Locking sheds is only part of it. It's even going as far as taking a digital photo or making a personal marking and taking a photo of it."
Police are appealing for witnesses to two commercial-fireworks explosions in Bullengarook about 10.45pm on August 17.
Detective Senior Constable Uren said police received several reports of a very loud explosion in Gorman Road followed by a second explosion nearby in Coffey Road.
Police attended both scenes and found large commercial fireworks had caused damage to a large rubbish bin and a letterbox.
"We don't believe it's anything more sinister than pranksters, but these fireworks have the potential to cause injury and even death."
