UNDER-9 Sunbury United Soccer Club players learnt new tips from two Melbourne Victory players when they visited a training session.
The visit by Mate Dugandzic and Tom Pondeljak was part of a prize in a Football Federation Victoria competition, won by Sunbury player Riley Dinsdale.
The Victory players watched the club train, offered their perspective on the game and encouraged the under-9 players to keep playing.
Riley won the visit by writing a short story about why he loved playing soccer for Sunbury and why he wanted Victory players to come to his club training.
"I play for Sunbury United U9s. We have the toughest defenders and a no-fear keeper. I play right wing and am awesome at it. I cross the ball into our really gutsy strikers so they can score. We have won six games out of seven and hope to win heaps more.
"We all hope to play for Melbourne Victory one day, especially me. I live for soccer," he wrote.
The players were excited about the Victory players' visit. Amanda Glossop, from Melbourne Victory, said the competition gave players the chance to get in touch with grassroots football.
