Aussie theme hits a high note at camp

28 Jul, 2009 08:55 AM
SUNBURY came alive with the sound of music as 106 pupils converged on the Victoria University campus for a three-day Regional Music Camp.

Students from Sunbury West Primary, Sunbury Primary, Sunbury Heights Primary, Killara Primary, Kismet Park Primary and Goonawarra Primary attended the annual event.

Camp organisers Helen Blogg and Marg Cavigan said the theme for this year's camp was Australia.

Students learnt to sing, dance and play instruments to a variety of Australian songs such as Home Among the Gum Trees, I am Australian, and Road to Gundagai.

Students also learnt an instrumental version of I Still call Australia Home. The Alpha Theatre Company members performed a rendition of King Arthur at the camp.

The Bush Wahzee bush dancing group held a concert and taught several songs to small groups.

Sunbury Heights teacher Nicole Letts said students had lots of fun as they learnt to enjoy music in different forms.
