FOR Sunbury's Noel and Madalene Villena, Australia is a place where dreams are unlimited.
The couple and their son Simeon, 6, who migrated from the Philippines four and a half years ago, are becoming Australian citizens on Australia Day.
Mr Villena says they love living here and are becoming citizens to open more opportunities for the family.
"Becoming a citizen means embracing Australian culture and contributing to the community to make it a better place for future generations," Mr Villena said.
The family enjoys Sunbury's mix of country and city living.
"We love the friendliness of the people, the well-maintained surroundings and the country-like way of living and the city amenities around here."
The Villenas are among the 100 Hume residents taking the citizenship oath at the Australia Day celebrations on Thursday.
Hume will also announce awards for its citizen of the year and the top community event.
Celebrations start at 9am at the Broadmeadows Town Hall.
