Art gives orphans new hope

13 Sep, 2011 12:00 AM
KYNETON'S Roni Wildeboer is using art to help Vietnam orphans.

Her latest fund-raiser, titled A Night to Remember, is an evening of music and art.

Proceeds will go to orphans through the Vietnam Volunteers Network, which

supports children at Go Vap Orphanage and Tu Du Peace Village in Ho Chi Minh City.

Some have physical and mental disabilities and are third-generation victims of Agent Orange.

Mrs Wildeboer has a personal connection to Vietnam. Her husband, Laurens, is a Vietnam veteran.

She says children in orphanages in Vietnam need support. Artworks for the auction have been donated by artists including Reg Mombassa, while Mary Doumany, Marcie Jones and Maggie Millar will perform.

"We can't help everyone, but we can make a difference," Mrs Wildeboer said.

"Any change you can make to a child's life is worth it."

The fund-raiser is at Stockroom, 98 Piper Street, Kyneton, at 7.30pm on October 8.

Tickets are $25 and available at Stockroom or Ruby Cafe, 101 Mollison Street, Kyneton.
