MACEDON Ranges Shire Council is expected to give the green light to a developer who wants to build Woodend's second supermarket.
At tomorrow night's meeting, councillors will be asked to decide on the proposal for a large-scale retail development and are expected to give their final tick of approval.
Gisborne South developer Glenn Ingram said that after council briefings last week he was confident the project would get the go-ahead.
"My impression was that those councillors who had concerns appeared to be quite comfortable with the outcome. There is no question in my mind that the market is eagerly anticipating a new supermarket."
Macedon Ranges mayor Rob Guthrie said councillors had given the plan in-principle approval but wanted to find out more about it.
A number of concerns had been ironed out following last week's briefing with the developer, his team of planners and architects.
"We were able to look at 3D plans of the building, which was very beneficial to us," he said. "It's a major development."
Cr Guthrie said there were changes to the front of the building and its position on the block, and the number of bike spaces was increased from six to 12.
Although he couldn't predict if a building permit would be approved tomorrow night, Cr Guthrie said councillors were "more comfortable" with the project.
