TRENTHAM will become the latest Macedon Ranges town to host its own regular farmers' markets, joining Kyneton, Lancefield and Riddells Creek.
The inaugural Trentham farmers' market will showcase the finest fresh and seasonal produce from the region from 9am on August 15.
It will then be held on the third Saturday of every month in the Trentham town square.
The farmers' market will have a selection of local dairy produce, honey, eggs, live poultry, preserves, potatoes, sourdough breads, olive products, fresh flowers and organic wines.
Trentham potato farmer Bernie White will be one of the stallholders at the first market. He has been going to farmers' markets in Kyneton for three years.
"The markets are good, so I'm looking forward to it. The potatoes [are] grown off our own farm and I bring in large quantities of five- and 10-kilogram bags. It's been quite clear at Kyneton that people make a habit of deliberately coming down to the market for fresh produce," he said.
"I'll be happy there will be one in our town. The farmers' markets are growing in popularity as our produce is harvested the same week it's presented for sale and it's all grown without chemicals. Just sun, soil and water."
All proceeds from the market will go to the not-for-profit Trentham Lions Club and other community groups.
