A day for Indonesia

24 Aug, 2010 01:00 AM
Riddells Creek Primary School pupils Ashlea and Kasy, both 7, and Ellie, 12, donned sarongs as part of the Indonesia's Independence Day celebrations last Tuesday.

Principal Joan Gibbs said: "We had a number of performances, singing Indonesian songs, playing instruments and games.

"This term every class had had a focus on language using greetings. We don't have a [Language Other Than English] teacher, but we try to keep learning the Indonesian culture and their language so we can sustain the program in our school. It's been ongoing throughout the term. They [pupils] really enjoy it."
